Long-Running New York Death Metal Band CEREMONIUM Call It Quits
April 14, 2004New York-based death metal band CEREMONIUM have officially called it quits. After 11 years, two albums, numerous compilation and festival appearances the band's former members have decided to move on with other projects.
"I initially put CEREMONIUM on indefinite hiatus because of Brandon Diaz's (vocals/ guitar) physical condition (cancer)," stated guitarist Thomas Pioli (ex-INCANTATION). "He said doctors told him he would be unable to sing. Now I know making excuses for our hiatus was just that, an excuse on his part. It appears Brandon will be handling some vocals and guitar in THE DYING LIGHT. As for my musical endeavors, I have been playing guitar for OBLITERATION since the summer of 2003 and recorded a demo titled 'Winter 2003 Demo' shortly before touring Brazil with INCANTATION. With OBLITERATION I have moved away from the epic approach to song writing which was applied to CEREMONIUM and focus on creating primitive and straightforward black/ death metal. Our demo is available through our website and lyrics to our songs have been posted there as well.
"I would like to thank all the media, magazines, radio stations, record companies, promoters and fans for their support over the years. Hopefully you will all stand by me with my new act. Cheerz!!!"
